A case of convulsion during general anesthesia

Abstract
|
|
|
A case of convulsion by hyperthermia during general anesthesia for exploratory laparotomy in a 5(3/12) year-old female has been reported.
Pre-operative medication was demerol 20mg and atropine 0.2mg intramusculally.
Anesthesia was induced with 2.5% thiopenthal sodium and -maintained with ether through "To and Fro" method.
A convulsion, Jacksonian type which began 95 minutes after induction of anesthesia, lasted 15 to 20 minutes.
The patient was treated with simple method of ice bag on neck, forehead, axillary region, and hyperventilation.
